Kun Jiang Observation of anyonic braiding statistics 10/14/2020

Anyons are quasiparticles show fractional statistics when two of them are exchanged. For the fractional quantum hall effect (FQHE), quasiparticle excitations are predicted to have fractional charge and fractional braiding statistics. In this talk, I will discuss the recent experimental works on the experimental observation of anionic braiding statistics for the v=1/3 fractional quantum hall state using the electronic Fabry-Perot interferometer. I will first review the basics of FQHE. Then, I will discuss the experiments showing that strong Aharonov-Bohm interference of the edge mode is punctuated by discrete phase slips that indicate an anionic phase θ=2π/3.
