Yi Zhou Glassy Behavior and Glass Transition 10/9/2019

In this talk, I would like to share with you what I learned from the two references [1] and [2], and emphasize useful stuff strongly based on my own opinion. Below is the outline (which may change from time to time, before or after the talk ).

  1. Basic Notions: Features of glasses, Temperature dependent relaxation times and kinetic fragility, Structural glass vs. Spin glass.
  2. Dynamic Heterogeneity: Spatiotemporal dynamic fluctuations, Multipoint correlation functions.
  3. Models and Theories: Mean-field theory, Configurational entropy and complex free energy, Random first-order transition.
  4. Off-Equilibrium Dynamics: Aging and Rheology
  5. Time scales and Length scales
  6. The Metal-to-Insulator transition at finite temperatures
